Nuremberg Airport implements new Blue Ocean Lifeline incentive scheme

Nuremberg Airport (NUE) has just implemented a new incentive scheme which aims at supporting airlines in the times after the COVID-19-induced break in air traffic and also to ensure good connectivity from Nuremberg.

“We can all expect airlines to fly with a potentially low load factor and unstable demand in the coming months, which is why we decided to share the risk of operating in these uncertain times.”, says Juergen Kohstall, VP Marketing & Corporate Communications.

The Blue Ocean Lifeline incentive scheme reduces landing/take-off charges and charges for central infrastructure, depending on the achieved load factor per single flight.

With a seat load factor of less than or equal 33% (66%), landing/take-off charges and charges for central infrastructure will be reduced by 95% (85% respectively) and with a seat load factor of more than 66%, the discount will be 65%. The discount is applied automatically, so there is no application needed, and is an official price list. It is valid already and will be until the end of the winter schedule (27 March 2021).

The airport is the first in Germany and one of the first overall to offer an initiative like this, making it a pioneer in the field.
