Oman Airports has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Imam Khomeini Airport City in Tehran, setting the stage for closer collaboration across airport operations, commercial development and long-term aviation growth between Oman and Iran.
The agreement establishes a formal framework for the two airport operators to share expertise, develop joint initiatives and explore new commercial opportunities, strengthening connectivity and aviation capabilities across the region.
Strategic cooperation across key airport functions
Under the MoU, Oman Airports and Imam Khomeini Airport City will work together in several core areas, including:
-
Operational excellence and airport planning
-
Innovation, digital transformation and smart-airport solutions
-
Training programmes, skills development and capacity building
-
Commercial development and potential joint ventures
The partnership also includes the exchange of technical knowledge, specialist workshops, and observational visits, alongside cooperation on emerging airport-city development concepts and future infrastructure projects.
Strengthening regional aviation ties
Aviation analysts say the agreement could support wider efforts to enhance Middle East air transport links, improve passenger experience and attract new investment into aviation infrastructure across both countries.
For Oman Airports, the partnership aligns with its strategy to expand international cooperation and build capabilities across its network, while Imam Khomeini Airport City gains access to additional expertise in airport management and commercial development.
The collaboration is expected to accelerate innovation and operational improvements as both sides work to support the long-term growth of their aviation sectors.
