Porter Airlines is bringing a warming trend to 2026 with new flights to Miami International Airport from Ottawa International Airport (YOW), creating the only nonstop service between MIA and YOW.
The new Miami route, which began on January 24 with three weekly flights, provides greater international and cross-border connectivity for onward travel by the Latin American and Caribbean hub for Porter’s codeshare partner, American Airlines.
Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Mayor, said: “I am thrilled that Porter Airlines has enlarged its presence at MIA by re-establishing nonstop air service between Miami-Dade County and Canada’s capital city, which hasn’t existed since early 2020.
“Ottawa is also now MIA’s fourth Canadian destination, creating another nonstop option between our community and our neighbours to the north.
“Thanks to Porter’s three new weekly flights from Ottawa, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from Canada and to expanding one of our top international travel markets, which is already responsible for more than 700,000 MIA passengers annually.”
This winter, Porter is offering more flights from YOW than any other carrier, serving 26 non-stop routes. Miami is part of a larger expansion into sun markets from Ottawa this season, with destinations in Mexico, The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Costa Rica operating since December.
Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting for Porter Airlines, said: The ongoing addition of nonstop routes from YOW reflects Porter’s commitment to Ottawa-Gatineau.
“Canadians want to escape winter, and this in-demand route provides another option and more sun for the region.
