London Stansted rounded off its busiest ever summer with a record August in which it welcomed nearly 3.1m passengers.
That beat the previous record set in August 2024 by 0.6% and took the 12-month total to 29.77m, an increase of 2.4% on the previous year.
August also saw Stansted record the busiest day of the year so far as more than 104,000 passengers passed through the terminal on 24 August. The airport recorded 11 days in total where passenger numbers topped 100,000.
The month saw Istanbul lead the way as the busiest route followed by Dublin and Palma de Mallorca.
Across the peak getaway season between June and August, a total of 8.8m passengers took advantage of London Stansted’s reliable and efficient operation and extensive network of 200 destinations to make it the airport’s busiest summer yet.
The most popular countries across the summer months were Spain, Italy, and Turkey.
Operational performance during the month remained strong, with 99% of passengers passing safely through security in 15 minutes or less, and with an average queue time of less than five minutes during the main departure peaks.

“As we continue to grow our route network and give our passengers even more choice, and progress our £1.2bn investment programme, including significantly increasing the size of the terminal building, we will remain laser focused on doing all we can to ensure every passenger has the best start possible to their journey when choosing to fly from London Stansted.”
