Russian carrier Red Wings Airlines has cancelled a lease agreement for six A220-300sdue to economic reasons.

The airline said the reason for termination of the lease agreement for the aircraft is an “exclusively economic aspect” and the execution of the lease agreement is terminated by mutual agreement of all parties.

Red Wings Airlines chief executive officer, Yevgeny Klyucharev said: “We planned to start commercial operation of the new Airbus A220-300 aircraft for civil aviation in Russia (formerly the Bombardier CSeries) in the spring of 2019.

“But, for economic reasons, we decided to leave this project. There is no policy here, this is pure commerce.”
