Rex Airlines selects Intelsat for mainline fleet inflight connectivity

Intelsat, operator of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network, is installing its inflight connectivity systems on Rex Airlines‘ domestic Australian fleet of Boeing 737-800s.

Passengers traveling on Rex Airline’s domestic fleet can expect high-performance connectivity thanks to Intelsat’s aviation network, leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and high-capacity service over the most trafficked commercial aviation routes.

To celebrate the new service and passengers’ return to the skies, passengers in economy will enjoy free Wi-Fi until the end of November, after which they can access the internet for a small fee. Rex business-class passengers will enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout their journey whenever they fly.

“We’re honored Rex has chosen us to help them delight their passengers in Australia,” said Intelsat Senior Vice President of Commercial for Intelsat Commercial Aviation, Dave Bijur.

“As life begins to return to normal in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, customers are excited to fly again, and we expect their need for connectivity to be even greater than it was before”.

For passengers who want to binge on Netflix or Stan, Rex will also offer a streaming internet option on its Boeing 737-800s.

And, beyond their online experience, Rex’s passengers will also have access to stored content featuring movies and TV programs free of charge.

“In this day and age, business and leisure travelers expect to remain connected, whether they are on the ground or in the air,” said Mayooran Thanabalasingham, Rex’s General Manager, Information Technology and Communications.

“Our selection of Intelsat and their market-leading inflight connectivity product delivers on that need”.
