Ryanair has upgraded its Alicante route from Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) into a year-round service as part of its winter 2018 schedule.
The 1,396-kilometre sector will be twice weekly, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays. Ryanair is the second biggest carrier at CAN after Flybe.
The airline operates three routes from CAN, with summer seasonal services to Faro and Frankfurt Hahn, now enhanced by the year-round operation of Alicante flights. It expects to handle 70,000 passengers at CAN during the 2018/19 financial year.
CAN managing director, Al Titterington welcomed the announcement and said 2018 has “started like a rocket”, with passenger records being smashed, as CAN achieved its busiest-ever January with 17 per cent growth.
