Ryanair has welcomed the decision of an Athens court to convict a passenger who disrupted a flight to Athens in July 2020 by refusing to comply with crew instructions.
The court handed the individual a five-month suspended sentence and a €400 fine.
In a statement, Ryanair reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful travel environment for all passengers and crew.
The airline emphasized its strict zero-tolerance policy towards unruly passenger behaviour, pledging to continue taking decisive action against misconduct on board.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is Ryanair’s No.1 priority and we operate a strict zero tolerance policy to try to eradicate unruly behaviour onboard our aircraft.
“Ryanair welcomes this decision by Athens court, which demonstrates that the tiny number of passengers that disrupt flights will face consequences for their unruly behaviour.”
This latest ruling underscores the growing efforts within the aviation industry to address and deter disruptive behaviour during flights, ensuring smoother and safer journeys for everyone.
