Schiphol and BAM are constructing a new parking garage at the P3 long-stay car park. This will add more than 4,000 sheltered parking spaces to the largest parking facility in the Netherlands.

Travellers will be able to park their cars in the new garage from mid-2027.

The addition will contribute to the passenger experience and improve accessibility to the airport.

Dieme Ketel, Head of Parking & Mobility Services, said: “With this new parking garage at P3 we offer travellers not only more than 4,000 additional sheltered parking spaces, but also more ease and a smooth start to their journey.

“The new garage is being built next to the existing P3 parking garage and bus stop. Travellers can park their car in the covered garage and walk straight to the free electric shuttle bus that runs every ten minutes and takes them to the terminal in five minutes.”

The P3 long-stay car park will soon have space for approximately 18,000 cars, about half of which will be covered.

There are currently 5,000 sheltered parking spaces in the two existing car parks, and the new parking garage will add more than 4,000 sheltered spaces.

The garage will have six parking levels. By building upwards in the same location, Schiphol is making the most efficient use of the space available.

Schiphol is looking ahead to the future with its new parking garage. The airport expects a further increase in the number of travellers, partly due to the use of new, larger aircraft.

This will also increase the demand for parking spaces at Schiphol. With this new parking garage, Schiphol will ensure sufficient parking for travellers and that the airport remains easily accessible.

Eric Moleman, Managing Director BAM Bouw en Techniek, said: “Sustainable construction is an important part of our strategy, and we put it into practice by, among other things, using electrical equipment and sustainable materials.

“We incorporated these choices in both the design and construction of the new parking garage at Schiphol from the outset.

“That requires a different way of working together and organising, but shows that more sustainable construction is already feasible today, especially when done in close collaboration with partners like Schiphol.”
