Southwest Airlines has launched its own in-house holiday package service, Getaways by Southwest, offering customers bundled deals including flights, hotels, car hire and ground transport, powered by CellPoint Digital’s payment tech.
The US carrier said the new product would expand on what passengers already value about the airline – flexibility, free checked bags and loyalty perks – while providing a “convenient, valuable, and curated vacation experience.”
Travellers booking through Getaways will earn five Rapid Rewards points per dollar spent and continue to benefit from Southwest’s two free checked bags policy (within weight and size limits).
The airline is also offering flexibility on changes, with no change fees and the option to cancel for future travel credits valid for 18 months.
Destinations available at launch include Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, Cancun, Punta Cana and Montego Bay.
Phil Gouel, Southwest’s Vice President of Product Development, said: “Getaways by Southwest expands what customers love about Southwest—flexibility, an award-winning Rapid Rewards programme, and great perks—to the vacation experience.”
The new service positions Southwest to compete more directly with US rivals that already sell holiday packages through in-house or partner platforms. Customers can browse and book packages via Southwest.com/getaways.
