Southwest Airlines has extended its route map in North America and internationally adding a range of new services and upping frequencies into different cities.
From 4 November, it will start new non-stop flights on Saturdays from New York LaGuardia Airport to New Orleans, West Palm Beach and Orlando.
Also from the same date, it will add one additional weekday non-stop flight between LaGuardia and Dallas (an increase to five weekday non-stop flights), Denver (an increase to three weekday non-stop flights), Kansas City (an increase to two weekday non-stop flights), meaning by the end of November the carrier will offer up to 35 flights a day from LaGuardia.
Southwest is also growing its service in Washington DC Reagan National with a new daily non-stop service beginning 4 November to Oklahoma City. On the same day, the carrier is also adding one additional flight between Reagan National and Nashville (an increase to four weekday roundtrip flights) and Dallas (an increase to five weekday roundtrip flights).
Southwest Airlines’ managing director of network planning, Adam Decaire said: “Today’s schedule extension shows the depth of Southwest’s growing network with new nonstop links among even more cities than ever before.
“Our Teams are highly energized by continuing to develop our route map with more flights between more places while maintaining our core focus of connecting People to what’s important in their lives.”
The airline is also growing route options into California with more flights to and from San Jose. By the end of November, the carrier will offer up to 99 departures a day to 24 destinations.
Starting 4 November it will add new non-stop service Sundays through Fridays to Tucson. Additionally, the carrier will now offer eight weekday roundtrips between San Jose and Portland, an increase of two flights each weekday, and 12 non-stop flights weekdays between San Jose and Orange County/Santa Ana, also an increase of two flights each weekday.
Southwest is also adding flights between Burbank and Houston Hobby and Burbank and Chicago Midway, a route previously it served back in 2005.
Responding to demands for more service from Long Beach, the carrier is adding more flights to Sacremento, and additionally, the carrier will add three weekday flights between Long Beach and Las Vegas.
International services are also being expanded and Southwest will expand its service between the US and Cuba with a third daily nonstop flight between Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Havana.
Effective 4 November, the carrier will begin international service on weekends between Chicago Midway and Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, subject to government approvals. The four new routes will complement existing international service between Chicago Midway and Cancun, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The carrier will also resume seasonal daily international service on 4 November between Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Belize, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Grand Cayman, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Turks and Caicos, Denver and Puerto Vallarta, Houston Hobby and Liberia, Costa Rica St. Louis and Cancun.
