Industrial action that would have “shut down” Bournemouth Airport this weekend has been halted after the employer made a new pay offer.
More than 100 workers at the airport were due to strike from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 September in a dispute over pay.
This would have had a significant impact on airport operations as it included workers from many different areas including baggage handling, flight dispatching, check-in staff and the fire service.
However, Bournemouth Airport has now put forward a new pay offer.
Strike action has been postponed to allow members to be balloted on this.
Matt Tipper, regional co-ordinating officer at the trade union Unite, said: “Following negotiations between Unite and Bournemouth Airport, the employer has come back with an improved pay offer.”
“Strike action has been suspended while our members will be balloted on this offer over the coming days.”
