Turkish leisure carrier SunExpress will start it first direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport in Sweden to the Turkish holiday destination of Antalya.
Antalya is the biggest Turkish destination from the Swedish airport and travel to Turkey has seen sharp growth over the last 12 months. The new direct route will operate on Sundays from 26 May to 27 October, 2019. SunExpress already flies from Stockholm Arlanda to Antalya, Izmir and Konya.
SunExpress head of network planning and scheduling, Wilken Bellmann said: “We see very high demand of tourists as well as travellers visiting friends and relatives. Furthermore, we are considering extending our Stockholm-Antalya service from summer-seasonal to year-round in the future.”
Gothenburg Landvetter Airport airport director, Charlotte Ljunggren added in the past year, travel to Turkey has increased 18 per cent from the gateway.
