In total, more than 2.2 million passengers flew via Swedavia’s ten airports in January. This is an overall increase of seven per cent compared to the same month last year.
Demand continues to strengthen: both international and domestic. International air travel increased by five per cent, while domestic travel increased by 14 per cent.
Sweden’s largest airport, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, served a total of over 1.6 million passengers in January.
This represents an increase of seven per cent compared with January last year. This means traffic is at 90 per cent of the levels before the pandemic in 2019.
International travel increased by six per cent to over 1.3 million passengers, while domestic travel increased by 12 per cent to almost 310,000 passengers.
The strong development of domestic travel at Arlanda is mainly due to the airlines’ planning of Stockholm traffic, with most airlines using Arlanda for domestic travel since the end of 2024.
Göteborg Landvetter Airport had a total of just over 340,000 passengers in January, which is an increase of three per cent compared with last January.
This corresponds to 76 per cent of the levels before the pandemic in 2019.
International travel increased by two per cent to just over 306,000 passengers, while domestic travel increased by 17 per cent to just over 35,000 passengers.
Swedavia’s other eight airports showed a positive trend with local differences in January. Apart from Bromma Stockholm Airport, Ronneby Airport, Kiruna Airport and Visby Airport had the largest percentage increases during the month.
For the second month in a row, Kiruna Airport had a passenger record for a single month. Compared to the levels before the pandemic, total traffic increased by 21 per cent in January 2026.
A total of 3,600 passengers travelled via Bromma Stockholm Airport, representing two per cent of the levels before the pandemic in 2019.
The sharp percentage increase for Bromma should be seen in the light of the fact that the airport had almost no traffic in January 2025.
