Swedish airport operator Swedavia said a record number of passengers passed through its gateways in January.
More than 2.9 million flew to, or from Swedavia’s airports in the month, which is a two per cent increase compared to the same month in 2017.
International passenger volume was up more than three per cent to over 1.9 million passengers. Domestic volume was on the same level as in 2017, at just over one million.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport (below) saw a two per cent increase to more than 1.8 million while Göteborg Landvetter Airport rose two per cent to more than 450,000 and volume at Bromma Stockholm Airport rose three per cent to 185,000.
At the group’s seven other airports, there were relatively small changes in passenger volume. The greatest increases were at Malmö Airport to 156,000 passengers, a two per cent increase and Are Östersund Airport to 46,000, a five per cent rise.
The total number of passengers on a rolling 12-month period was 41.98 million, which is a six per cent increase. Domestic traffic was up two per cent to 14 million while international traffic was up eight per cent to 27.96 million.
