SAS renews Swissport ground handling contract at London Heathrow T2

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has renewed a ground handling contract with Swissport at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 2.

The new agreement will see Swissport continue to provide passenger services (premium check-in, gate and ticketing functions) as well as full ramp handling including aircraft cleaning across 5,500 flights per annum for the next three years.

SAS area station manager UK & Ireland, Gary Ellis said: ‘’Following on from our initial four year contracted period at Heathrow,  after an exhaustive tender process Scandinavian Airlines  is very pleased to extend our cooperation for a further three year term.

“We look forward to continuing our positive long standing relationships both at Heathrow and additionally Edinburgh, Birmingham and London Stansted which have also seen their contracts extended for a further three years.’’

Swissport chief executive officer UK & Ireland, Jason Holt added: ‘’Swissport and SAS have a long standing history and we are delighted to have renewed our partnership which continues to cement our position in the largest UK airport.

“Our operational teams have worked tirelessly to provide an outstanding level of service and we look forward to continuing this throughout the duration of the term of the new agreement.’’

Swissport handles some 22 daily flights for SAS across the UK at its Heathrow, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Stansted airports, servicing a mixture of narrow body Airbus, Boeing and CRJ-900 aircraft types.
