Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed 1.87 million passengers in March – a 7.6 per cent fall on the same month last year.
Part of the decline in traffic maybe due to home carrier Etihad Airways readjusting its route network along with tough market competition across the region.
The top five destinations with the highest share in traffic through in March were: London Heathrow, Bangkok, Jeddah, Delhi, and Manila.
Traffic to London increased by 12 per cent compared to the same month last year, while France registered the highest growth in traffic with 15.4 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, followed by UK with 13 per cent.
In the first three months of this year, the airport has welcomed 5.49 million passengers, a 10.7 per cent fall on the 6.15 million in the same period last year.
