The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in partnership with Miami International Airport (MIA) and participating airlines, has announced the availability of TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at Miami International Airport’s concourses D, E, and H.

This cutting-edge biometric technology enables eligible TSA PreCheck members to experience a faster, more seamless identity verification process without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass at the security checkpoint.

Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Mayor, said: “TSA’s launch of PreCheck Touchless ID at three of MIA’s busiest checkpoints is the latest state-of-the-art initiative that is streamlining and simplifying the travel experience for our customers.

“TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at MIA follows the full modernisation of TSA Checkpoint 2 just three months ago, with the newest bag screening and bin return technology in the industry designed to be 30% faster than the traditional checkpoint lane.

“These customer service enhancements and other recent modernisations are coming just in time for the busy spring travel season, making the travel journey at MIA more seamless than ever before.”

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID uses advanced facial comparison technology to verify a traveller’s identity in seconds. Passengers simply look into a camera at a dedicated lane, where their live photo is securely matched against their stored passport.

This touchless process enhances security while providing a more efficient and convenient screening experience for enrolled travellers.

Stephen Taber, TSA’s Federal Security Director for MIA, said: “TSA PreCheck Touchless ID to MIA marks another step forward in modernising airport security and improving the passenger journey.

“We are excited to offer this cutting-edge option to our travellers, reducing wait times and streamlining security screening.”

The feature is available to current TSA PreCheck members flying with the following participating airlines at these MIA concourses:

  • Concourse D (Checkpoint 1): American Airlines
  • Concourse E (Checkpoint 5): American Airlines and Alaska Airlines
  • Concourse H (Checkpoint 8): Delta Air Lines and United Airlines
