Turkish Airlines has launched a new twice-weekly route from London Gatwick Airport to Ankara International Airport.

The flights to Turkey’s capital and second largest city will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The new Ankara connection adds to other routes Turkish Airlines runs from London Heathrow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.

Turkish Airlines general manager in London, Celal Baykal said: “This new route is being launched in direct response to increased demand from our customers across the country and is further evidence of our commitment to exceeding passenger needs.”

The airline has also added other routes at the start of 2019 as it gradually moves into the new Istanbul Airport and has the opportunity to increase its capacity.

It will start a three-weekly Istanbul-Mexico City-Cancun link from 21 August this year, a four-weekly Istanbul-Luxor route from 23 September and five weekly Istanbul-Marrakesh connection from 27 March.
