Vietjet is celebrating its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft from the airline’s landmark order of 200 jets valued at US$32 billion with Boeing.

The ceremony took place at Boeing’s Delivery Center in Seattle, Washington, attended by Vietnam’s President Luong Cuong, senior officials from both nations, and key business partners.

Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, this milestone highlights the deepening partnership between Vietjet and Boeing.

It also stands as a strong symbol of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations—fostering trade, investment, and job creation.

The newly delivered 737-8, along with hundreds more to be delivered in the coming years, will be deployed on Vietjet’s high-demand regional markets, enhancing the passenger experience and strengthening the airline’s growing international network.

This delivery also underscores Vietjet’s commitment to sustainable aviation development both regionally and globally.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet, said: “The first Boeing aircraft received under this historic order is the result of nearly a decade of partnership between Boeing and Vietjet.

“It marks the start of hundreds more deliveries in the years ahead. This milestone strengthens bilateral trade, symbolises the U.S.–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and reflects our shared ambition to reach new heights in aviation.

“It also delivers real benefits to both economies and creates more jobs for the American people.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “On behalf of the Boeing team, we are honored to join Vietjet in celebrating the airline’s first Boeing airplane.

“The 737-8 will support the airline’s network growth, opening new routes to serve Southeast Asia and reinforcing the strength of one of the region’s most dynamic new-generation airlines.”
