Vietnam Airlines has confirmed a data breach linked to a third-party customer service platform operated by a global technology partner.

The airline said it was among several international companies affected by the incident, which may have allowed unauthorised access to some customer data processed through the external platform.

In a statement, Vietnam Airlines said it was working with cybersecurity experts, relevant authorities and its technology partner to investigate the breach, assess its impact and strengthen data protection measures.

The carrier stressed that no payment information, passwords, travel itineraries, passport details or Lotusmiles frequent flyer balances had been compromised. Its internal IT systems also remain unaffected.

Customers whose data may have been exposed are being contacted directly and offered assistance.

The airline urged passengers to be vigilant against phishing attempts or fraudulent messages impersonating Vietnam Airlines, and to avoid sharing personal information or one-time passcodes with unverified sources.

“Vietnam Airlines sincerely regrets any concern this incident may have caused,” the company said, adding that protecting customers’ personal information “remains our highest priority.”
