Vitaly Saveliev has been re-elected as the chief executive officer (CEO) of PJSC Aeroflot for a further five years after his appointment was approved by the board of directors on 28 August.
He has led the Russian airline group since his appointment as CEO on 10 April 2009 and during his tenure he has led the group to significant growth and improvements.
Over the years Aeroflot’s passenger traffic has significantly increased from 8.6 million passengers in 2009 (11.1 million including subsidiaries) to 32.8 million in 2017. In total, Aeroflot and its subsidiaries carried a record 50.1 million passengers in 2017.
The Aeroflot Group includes Aeroflot, Rossiya Airlines, Far Eastern airline Aurora and low-cost arm Pobeda.
Saveliev and the Aeroflot management team have prepared an updated Aeroflot Group Strategy-2023, which will be presented in the near future to President Vladimir Putin.
