Wizz Air has added a new three-weekly route from Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) to Krakow in Poland which will start from 2 May next year.
The service will deliver an additional 56,000 two-way seats and an expected record year for Wizz Air at DSA with over 600,000 passengers in the next 12 months.
The announcement comes shortly after a new route to Budapest, Hungary commenced with a further new route to Debrecen, also Hungary starting in December from DSA. The airport is predicting these new routes will help deliver a record year for total passengers in 2019-20.
DSA aviation development director, Chris Harcombe said over half of the total seats available from DSA are low-cost with Wizz now operating 12 routes. The route extends DSA’s number of destinations to 55.
Wizz Air executive vice president and deputy chief executive officer, Stephen Jones added the carrier chose Krakow to be its newest base in Poland as it sees potential and the demand for low cost travel in the city.
