Wizz Air grows passengers numbers by 19.6% in 2018

Central and Eastern European low-cost carrier Wizz Air flew 33.8 million passengers last year – 19.6 per cent more than the previous year.

Growth was driven by a widening network, enhancement of operations and its fleet and improvement in its customer offering.

Capacity grew 18.4 per cent 36.6 million passengers and the load factor was 92.4 per cent, one percentage point up on 2017.

Last year, Wizz Air grew its route network ewith 14 new links announced to/from UK (six), Bulgaria (six), Poland (one) and Romania (one).

Wizz Air UK company expansion with two additional aircraft to be deployed from summer 2019, taking the London Luton Airport ased fleet to 11 aircraft.

Base expansion in Bulgaria with a second based aircraft to be deployed in Varna from summer 2019. The carrier expanded its fleet with the delivery of an additional brand new Airbus A321, taking it to 106 aircraft.
