Wizz Air launches operations from Cardiff base

Wizz Air UK will be starting operations from its new base at Cardiff Airport on 17 June.

The new base will be operating routes to Larnaca, Corfu, Heraklion, Faro, Alicante, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife, with flights to Sharm el-Sheikh planned to start in October.

The airline is also offering its own travel insurance which includes Covid-19 cover and Wizz Flex, which allows customers to cancel their flights up to three hours before departure without any fee and receive a full reimbursement.

Wizz Air UK managing director Owain Jones said: “With the re-start of international travel from Wales, we’re excited to be planning the start of Wizz Air UK’s new base at Cardiff Airport in June, just in time for the holiday season.

“We’ve been busy recruiting new colleagues, with the first training course in Cardiff already completed, and Wizz Air UK’s Cardiff team is looking forward to welcoming customers on-board Wales’ new hometown airline.”
