Wizz Air opens new Polish base at Krakow Airport

Wizz Air has opened its newest Polish base in Krakow – the fast-growing low-cost carrier’s (LCC) 25th on the European continent.

The airline will allocate three Airbus A321 aircraft to Krakow in May, August and September 2019 and operate 18 new routes from Krakow to 15 countries. 12 routes have started and a further six will start in August and September.

The three allocated aircraft will support the start of operations of new services from Krakow to Bari, Billund, Birmingham, Catania, Doncaster, Eindhoven, Keflavík, Kharkiv, Kiev, Kutaisi, Larnaca, London, Nice, Oslo, Rome, Tel Aviv, Turin and Turku.

Krakow is the fifth Wizz Air base in Poland besides Warsaw, Katowice, and Gdansk and Wroclaw. As a part of the costant development, the airline is expanding its network in Poland.

The base establishment at Krakow Airport represents an investment exceeding US$300 million creating more than 120 new direct jobs with Wizz Air and over 550 jobs in associated industries.

746,000 seats are on sale in 2019 for the airline’s routes from and to Krakow. Wizz Air will have 11 million seats on 169 routes within its Polish network.
