Wizz Air carried 4.92 million passengers in February, marking a 6.7% increase compared with the same month last year.

The low-cost airline said seat capacity rose by 8.3% year-on-year to 5.44 million seats. However, the monthly load factor slipped by 1.3 percentage points to 90.5%, reflecting the faster pace of capacity growth.

New Italian Base Strengthens Market Position

During February, Wizz Air opened a new operational base in Palermo, Sicily — its 39th base overall.

Two Airbus A321neo aircraft were positioned at the airport at the start of the month as part of the airline’s ongoing network expansion.

The move means Wizz Air now accounts for more than 10% of the Italian aviation market, making it the country’s second-largest airline by market share.

Strong 2025 Operational Performance

The airline also published final operational statistics for the 2025 calendar year, reporting that it carried 68.6 million passengers — a 9.4% rise year-on-year.

Operational reliability improved, with a 99.61% flight completion rate. The airline’s A15 punctuality rate — measuring flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule — stood at 77.98%.

Wizz Air said the figures demonstrate continued progress in operational performance as it expands capacity across its European network.

The airline, which operates primarily across Europe and the Middle East, has continued to pursue growth through fleet expansion and new base openings, despite wider cost pressures facing the aviation industry.
