Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has reported strong growth in December 2025, alongside a series of strategic developments aimed at expanding its network and strengthening its regional presence.
The airline carried 5.85 million passengers during the month, up 15.5% compared with the same period last year. Capacity also increased, with 6.81 million seats offered, a rise of 16.3%. The load factor stood at 85.9%, slightly down by 0.6 percentage points year on year.
Wizz Air said its network densification strategy continued to progress, announcing plans to add a 15th aircraft to its Summer 2026 base fleets at London Luton, Rome Fiumicino, Tirana and Warsaw Chopin airports.
The airline also expanded its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe. In Romania, Wizz Air officially reopened its Targu Mures base on 15 December with one aircraft, while a new base opened at Warsaw Modlin Airport on 1 December with two Airbus A321neo aircraft.
In addition, Wizz Air strengthened its distribution channels by partnering with Kyte on 4 December, opening its third-party distribution platform to the corporate travel market. The move follows an earlier agreement with flight content provider Travelfusion in August.
The airline also reported progress on cybersecurity, achieving a 97% score in its first pre-audit under the European Union’s new NIS2 regulations. Wizz Air received the highest possible rating, described as “compliant with negligible risk”.
