An expanded route network helped drive Wizz Air’s passenger numbers 25 per cent in March to 2.47 million compared to the same month last year.

The low-cost Central and Eastern European carrier’s load factor also grew by 1.1 percentage points to 91.5 per cent on March 2017. Capacity in March was up 23.7 per cent to 2.7 million seats.

On a rolling 12-month basis Wizz Air has welcomed 29.6 million passengers, up 24.7 per cent on the previous 12-month period, while the load factor was 91.3 per cent, up 1.3 percentage points.

The carrier’s route network expansion has included 10 new routes announced with nine to/from Austria and one to/from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Wizz Air has also taken delivery of five new Airbus A320 family aircraft, taking the fleet to 93.
