Air Europa pens codeshare with Panama’s Copa Airlines

Air Europa will consolidate its presence in Central America with the start of its new route to Panama in June and at the same time will offer a codeshare option with Copa Airlines to travel on to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador or Guatemala.

The codeshare will come into effect on 3 June, when Air Europa passengers will arrive in Panama on one of the airline’s Boeing Dreamliner aircraft, on the inaugural flight. 

Under the agreement, Air Europa will operate daily codeshare flights between Panama and the cities of San José (Costa Rica), Managua (Nicaragua), San Salvador (El Salvador) and Guatemala City (Guatemala).

Air Europa, will also offer Copa Airlines’ passengers arriving in Madrid excellent connecting flights to 23 domestic destinations and 15 in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Air Europa’s commercial director, Imanol Pérez said: “Our passengers now have the option to fly to new destinations in Latin America via the Hub of the Americas.

“In addition, Copa Airlines’ passengers, will now be able to fly to over 35 of our destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East via our Madrid Hub.”

Copa Airlines’ senior commercial planning vice president, Dennis Cary said: “Copa is always looking for partnerships to offer our customers the ultimate travel experience and expand our network of routes in the best interests of our passengers.

“This business alliance with Air Europa consolidates our company’s presence in Spain and also enhances our national network of connections in such a key country.”

The codeshare agreement starts at the beginning of June, concurrent with the start of Air Europa’s new route to Panama. Air Europa started operating in Central American just two years ago with its maiden flight to Honduras.
