airBaltic flies 12% more passengers in Q1 this year

Latvian airline airBaltic welcomed 818,129 passengers on board its aircraft in first three months of 2019 – 12 per cent more than the same period last year – as network growth drove traffic numbers.

During the first quarter (Q1) of 2019, operated 12,740 flights or 10 per cent more than last year. The load factor in Q1 was 62 per cent, five percentage points down on Q1 last year.

airBaltc chief executive officer, Martin Gauss said: “We are satisfied to see a double-digit growth, while modernizing our fleet with the most advanced aircraft in the market.

“In addition, we have been able to improve our service, offering more convenient connections for affordable prices. airBaltic’s product has proven to be a success story as passengers are increasingly choosing to travel with us.”

The carrier serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius. It has recently launched new destinations from Riga to Dublin, Stuttgart and Lviv, and will start flights to Kos and Menorca in May.
