Eurowings is launching its first flights to Russia and Georgia in July as it targets the VFR market.

The German LCC will start operating a twice-weekly service from Dusseldorf to Krasnodar in southern Russia on 19 July.

A biweekly service from Dusseldorf to the Georgian capital of Tbilisi will then launch on 21 July, while a weekly service from the same airport will connect with Ekaterinburg as of 24 July.

The aim of the new services is to help drive its expansion into VFR markets in the region and beyond and comes after new routes were introduced to Beirut in Lebanon and Erbil in northern Iraq in December.

All the new routes will be operated by an Airbus A320.
