Bengaluru-based Star Air is set to add three more Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft to its existing fleet in coming months after signing for three more of the type.

The Indian carrier’s current fleet consists of two Embraer 145 aircraft and the three additional aircraft will join its fleet by November 2019. Star Air is planning to increase its fleet size to 10 by December 2020.

Chairman Sanjay Ghodawat said: “By cementing this partnership with Embraer, we will be ideally positioned to generate greater value for all of our stakeholders.

“We will continue to add more aircraft to our fleet in the time to come which will help us activate all UDAN routes and also a few non-UDAN sectors. Customer comfort and their safety is of utmost importance to us at Star Air.”

Star Air operates in six Indian cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Belagavi, Hubballi, and Tirupati. The airline started operations in January and is a part of Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), a diversified Indian conglomerate.
