Malaysia Airlines today has opened new routes to Solo and Pekanbaru, Indonesia.

The inaugural flights departed KL International Airport (KLIA) to Solo and Pekanbaru on 18 September 2019, serviced by Boeing 737-800s.

Malaysia Airlines will be flying twice weekly to the two Indonesian cities, which are the 5th and 6th Indonesian destinations for the airline.

Malaysia Airlines Group CEO, Izham Ismail said, “The launch of these new routes isled by the increasing demand for flights between Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia. Pekanbaru is the capital city of the Riau Province, which is an economic centre for the country.”

The new flights are also in line with the recent launch Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, which promotes tourism as a pillar of the Malaysian economy.
