Small Planet Airlines ceases operations

Lithuania-based Small Planet Airlines has stopped operations – becoming the latest carrier to fall by the wayside due to financial problems.

The airline ceased flying after its air operating licence was suspended by Lithuania’s civil aviation authority last week. Vilnius Regional Court had previously refused the carrier’s request to allow additional time for restructuring.

Small Planet Airlines released a statement which said “Small Planet Airlines flights are not operating any more. If you have flight scheduled for Small Planet Airlines: please contact your tour operator for rebooking.

“We say big “Thank you” for all passengers who were with us for more than 10 years.”

Small Planet Airlines went into administration in October after its German and Polish subsidiaries filed for insolvency. The carrier said then it had been forced to declare insolvency to restructure after the subsidiary operations in Poland and Germany filed for bankruptcy.

Small Planet Lithuania had a fleet of eight aircraft and The Small Planet Airlines Group operated 29 aircraft.
